BKSA Champs Set To Wrap Up In Style

E365 -- With titles still up for grabs in virtually all the categories of competetion, expect the final event of the British Kite Surfing Championships to be an awesome event. There's nothing better than watching a championship go down to the wire, so gel down your hair, get a comfortable pair of shoes and make your way over to Hayling Island in little over a week's time.

What: British Kite Surfing Championships Round 7
When: 5 - 7 October, 2007
Where: Hayling Island

Richard Gowers, Chairman of the BKSA had the following to say about the upcoming action at Hayling Island: “This is the final Round in this year’s championships and spectators can expect to see a weekend display of awesome riding with epic moves as the fight for the titles and podium places remains strong. We have had a fantastic championship tour this year with competitors riding at an incredible standard."

In the Pro Men’s category, 2006 British Champion, Lewis Crathern, from Worthing, is currently leading and will be looking to secure a 2nd British title. Dont expect local boy Sam Light, from Hayling Island, in second place overall, to make things easy for him though.

In the Pro Ladies, Johara Sykes Davis, from Llandudno, and 2006 Amateur Champion, Helen Thompson, from Tiree are guaranteed podium places. Both girls have done incredibly well after moving up from the Amateur Ladies category.

As a special treat for spectators, it is hoped that Hayling Island’s most famous competitor, pro kitesurfer, Chris Bull can be persuaded to enter his local comp. Chris seems to have hung up his competition kit to concentrate on running his school these days.

Richard Gowers continued; “The sport has grown considerably over the past few years. We now have over 30 BKSA registered Kite Schools throughout the country, which has lead to an increase in the number of people taking up the sport. This in turn has increased the number of competitors entering the BKSA championships and together with our professional riders; we now have a large number of amateur and junior competitors who regularly enter the events. Many of the pro riders have also competed in international competitions representing the UK and carrying the flag for the BKSA."

So if its high speed and high ariel action you're looking for, and if seeing comps going down to the wire is you're kinda vibe, watch out for this one.
