Just got off the phone with Oli, the aptly named extreme sports organiser up at Tiffendell Ski Resort in South Africa. Yep, snow in Africa. Dig it. This is by far the coolest thing that's happened over at Extreme365 since the biggest surfing event in Africa, the Mr Price Pro took place last year. Stoked.
I'll personally be going up to the nationals (and most likely pulling a week of snowboarding while I'm at it). Oli claims the place gets a little crazy, especially behind the bar after the show. I haven't been snowboarding since two months in Colorado back in 2005, so this is gonna be challenging and pretty fun. Read more about my adventures in Colorado here.
The event runs from July 29th - August 2nd, and all the top boarders from around the country will be ripping it up. Siblings Marcin and Marta Jekot, Chris 'Cab' Percival, Brett Lang and Matt Amoretti...basically all the heroes of local boardsports mag blunt. Last year's slopestyle was won by Alexander Huber, who is a bladdy Austrian (hit the "Surfikan Slang on wavescape.co.za for more, uh...ethnic lingo). So South Africa's got some reclaiming to do if they're gonna put the tit back in competition.
