EA's Skate: How Is This Baby Gonna Land?

E365 -- EA's Skate: Landing September 12th. We're. Super. Excited. Check out some more info on the game, a couple more screen shots and a couple of lines from pro skaters John Rattray, Terry Kennedy, Ryan Smity and Mike Carroll, courtesy of EA.com/Skate.

John Rattray's afraid. A pro skater, afraid. But for the right reason. You see, EA Skate looks so realistic from where we stand, three weeks before release, that people may confuse it for the actual experience.

"I'm afraid people will feel that skateboarding is easier then it actually is," he says. "But I've seen how SKATE forces you to learn tricks in a sort of reasonable progression, which I think will be good for people to understand. I guess we'll just have wait and see.

The game is blowing the minds of skaters, gamesters and critics with its hyper-real graphics, innovative trick controls and general stoke factor. Boasting some of the biggest names in the anti-sport of skating, including Danny Way, Mark Gonzales and Jerry Hsu, the game is just gonna sweep away competition - if only until the next big thing.

E365 reckons this game is a winner for the simple reason that it's so playable by everyone. Nobody's mom is gonna come in and turn off the TV cos it's too violent or sex-y'all or anything. This is a generation bridger.

The game wars have been heating up steadily. XBox360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii have got their fists out, and game-makers are pushing harder than ever to bring you the nearest thing to what it's actually like being there, rolling around, simply enjoying it. That's what life's about, right?

"The game's done by skaters so there's a lot of attention to detail," said Mike Carroll, "It game feels much more realistic. I also think there's the whole fulfillment of the challenge, that's really there. I already know I'm going to be critical of my guy and how he is once SKATE is out, but we'll see."

The official site features the inevitable forum, plus loads of news from the world of skating, and which crews are where, and updates from the lives of the pros. You may wanna check it out, even if your loyalty lies elsewhere.
