Cliffhanging British Teen Put On Emergency Call Hold
E365> Climbing - Sunday September 09 2007
E365 -- Call centre operators are not exactly known for their intelligence, but the frosted almond cake would have gone to the operator who put an emergency call on hold -- from a teenage climber who was hanging on for dear life at the time!
Sixteen-year-old Terry Price and his mate Roy Williams were climbing when an accident befell them and Williams plunged 40 feet to the ground.
Price called 999 from the cliff in Uphill, Somerset and was connected to police in the wrong county before the locals cops found the call.
"I was hanging on for my life and they put me on hold when I rang 999," said Price on DavesDaily.com. "It was half-an-hour before I was put through to the right person and another hour until they arrived. I couldn't believe it. It felt like I was clinging on for ages - it was my worst nightmare."
Meanwhile, Roy survived with a fractured thumb, broken tooth and facial injuries.
If you're not living on the edge, you're probably smarter than those extreme nuts.
