Justin Leov Wins NZ Downhill Open
E365> MTB - Thursday March 13 2008
E365 -- Justin Leov took an important win this past weekend at the New Zealand Downhill Open. Now he has his sights set on even bigger things, like the Oceania Championships Title.
The NZ Downhill Open took place on pretty demanding track, consisting of rocky lava flow and some very open and fast corners. On top of that the conditions were fry, yet slippery. The tough corners meant riders had to find their natural limits early on in training, and he did just that, returning for the main race and taking the win 3 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.
"The turn out was good for the Elite field and it was a bonus to have my team mate Sam Blenkinsop onboard his freshly built up Yeti 303. From seeding to race run the conditions stayed the same and a lot of people looked to be struggling in the wind, especially on some of the rocky drops. It was a good day and I was happy to put two clean runs together to take the title," Justin said according to moredirt.co.uk.
The wind definitely did prove a problem for some of the riders and a lot of strength wasrequired to pedal through the wind to maintain the speed to the line.
Coming up this weekend is the Oceania Championships, which Justin is keen to add to his resume before he heads off to the USA for the start of the international race season.
